Happy Birthday, Rebecca!

Today we celebrated Rebecca's birthday.  Her birthday was last Friday (she turned 10!!!) but she had some friends over today to celebrate.  Last night I began to make her cake, and I must say I was very pleased with the results.  I wasn't sure how it would turn out and I did run into a few bumps, but you can't go wrong with a musical cake!!  She was thrilled with it, and that's all that mattered.

I can't believe she is 10 now!!  She has certainly grown to be a very beautiful and talented little girl.

Our Birthday!

This past Sunday Josh and I turned 20.  20 seems like a bigger deal to me than 18 and I am still trying to figure out why.  Maybe it's because I am "officially" out of my teens and into "adulthood".  I am in my 20s!  As with almost all of my years, I shared my birthday with my twin.....DUH! I have to say that our relationship growing up wasn't always one of joy and love, but it has grown to be so.  We've become such good friends and I know we'll carry that into our 90's. :-)  To celebrate we had several families over after church to roast hot dogs over the bonfire.  Granted, the adults didn't sit around the fire but it was really fun for us "younger folk" to enjoy the blaze.  The fun included a lesson on how to properly roast a hot dog, an intense game of Sorry Card Revenge, and lots of pictures!  Everyone made it such a memorable birthday!

To finish off the evening I had three of my best of friends stay the night.  I don't know that you would consider this entirely adventurous, but we chose to sleep on the deck in order to admire the stars.  It was such a beautiful, clear night!  SOME people were rather chatty and wouldn't let OTHERS go to sleep...but that's ok...I am not bitter. :-p  haha... anywho, I slept fine until a rooster conversation at 5am woke me from my slumber.  I wonder, do roosters NORMALLY crow at all hours of the day??  Our neighbor's does! It's rather humurous.  I wonder if he is blind. hehe  Well, like I said, I had a fabulous birthday and I thank God for giving me another year to serve Him.

Home Garden

This morning my dad and I put up our home garden.  I am absolutely thrilled!!  I have done tons of gardening at the holly farm but there is a different rewarding feeling that comes with digging in your OWN garden!!  It's so nice to have one "for my own particular use." ;-)  It's a small start but I just can't wait to harvest all the veggies!  Here's what I planted: Carrots, Radishes, Bush Beans, Cabbage, Broccoli, Onions, Lettuce, Cilantro, parsley, and dill.  My dad worked really hard at putting up the fence.  It's not a beauty, but it's certainly sufficient to keep out the "wabbits".

Congratulations, Dad!

So there is a lot to say in such a short amount of time so I shall condense what can be condensed.  This morning we attended my dad's pinning ceremony for being promoted to Master Chief.  We are so proud of him!!  For an AW to make Master Chief is a huge accomplishment!  The Lord really answered a lot of prayers concerning this situation and it would take a very long time for me to go into all the details.  About a year or so ago my dad surrendured to preach, and with that he surrendered his career to the Lord.  For his entire military career my dad has desired the position of Master Chief.  After his surrender to preach he decided to leave his promotion in the Lord's hands.  He worked hard and certainly deserved it, but he didn't do anything extraordinary in search of this promotion.  The Lord just dropped it in his lap!  We had said before that there was NO way my dad would make Master Chief and if he did it was certainly the Lord's doing.  The Lord certainly blesses faithfulness and chose to award my dad the position of Master Chief!  Not only did He give my dad the promotion, but He allowed us to stay here on Whidbey Island, which was certainly the desire of all our hearts.  The Lord be praised for such an answer to prayer!!

Welcome!

So, I am new to the world of blogging in a personal sense.   My previous postings have mostly been "business" based if you would like to call it that.  But there have been so many experiences that I have wanted to write about so I decided to create a personal blog.  Whether you desire to read what goes on in my very simple life is entirely up to you, but I enjoy sharing what the Lord is doing in my life and what he has done in my life as a military child moving from state to state, therefore from church to church.  I never cease to be amazed at how the Lord works in mysterious ways!   I could give you a long list (I plan to). :-)  So, as my introduction, I say, "Welcome to my blog!"

Always,
Alyssa
